Our jazz program is headed by jazz legend Dan Haerle. Dan is a Regents Professor Emeritus of Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas where he taught jazz for 34 years. He is an active jazz clinician nationally and internationally and has authored instructional material used by thousands of musicians worldwide. Dan was elected a member of the International Association of Jazz Education Hall of Fame in 2003. He has performed with Clark Terry, Pat Metheny, David Liebman, Freddie Hubbard, and numerous other modern jazz leaders. Dan has recorded multiple albums with his trio and quartet, featuring his own music as well as jazz standards.
Other jazz faculty include UNT jazz graduates Dr. Bob Lawrence and Mike Finkel as well as Hartt School of Music graduate Eugene Cantera.
