Laura was born in Fort Worth, TX, and was raised in Mansfield, TX. She began studying music at the  age of 8, beginning with piano lessons and an exciting summer piano camp! She competed in several region and state contests, as well as performed in studio recitals. Four years later, Laura encountered an opportunity to learn to play horn, and fell in love with the instrument. Laura began her college studies in music education at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX, continued her studies in music at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL., and graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Music (Music Therapy) from FSU’s College of Music.

After graduation, Laura returned to her home state of Texas, and began her own French Horn studio within school districts in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, including Wylie ISD, Mansfield ISD, and Grand Prairie ISD. Most recently, Laura has found a new passion for arranging music, and began publishing her horn quartet arrangements of Disney songs, recent hits, classic hits, and traditional Christian pieces in July 2014. During and prior to her undergraduate studies, Laura performed in prestige venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Meyerson Symphony Center, Dallas’ Majestic Hall, Fort Worth’s Bass Hall, and within the recording studio at Universal Studios in Los Angeles, California. During her collegiate experience, Laura performed on horn with the Sandestin Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonia Gulf Coast, the Destin Pops Symphony Orchestra, the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, the Banff Music Festival Chamber Winds, and the Sinfonietta of Fort Worth. Along with performing with professional groups, Laura consistently performed with the top ensembles in the University setting, including Symphony Orchestras, Wind Orchestras, Pit Orchestras, Chamber Orchestras, Horn Choirs, the Wind Symphony, and several Graduate Student Brass and Woodwind Quintets.

Laura has studied with influential horn instructors, such as Kendall Betts, Bernhard Scully, Bill VerMeulen, Michael Hatfield, Ted Thayer, David Hyde, Alton Adkins, Jesse McCormick, Lin Foulk, Gabriel Radford, Eldon Matlick, Brian Brown, and Janet Nye. Along with performing regularly on horn, Laura participated in several vocal and guitar performances for not only predetermined audiences, but for her weekly hospice and hospital patients. With this, Laura is familiar with the popular songs in contemporary and traditional Christian music, music of different genres, and finally, music of the 1920s and 1930s, all through music popular today. Laura also enjoys performing traditional and contemporary Christian music on piano, as well as simple, classical pieces.
