Drum Lessons for Plano

The Dallas School of Music teaches private drum lessons to Plano students of all ages and abilities. Young beginners through senior citizens can discover, learn, and play music with professional drum lessons Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Drum Lessons
Plano Preschoolers

Our preschool program is a fun, private drum lesson for children ages 3-5, with a broader goal of teaching the fundamentals of music. All lessons are 30 minutes per week. These lessons also utilize concepts and exercises from Dalcroze Eurhythmics and Kodaly, both methods renowned for developing musical ability in young children through movement, rhythm, and singing games. Our drum lessons are especially good for the child who is not yet ready to sit through a traditional half-hour lesson.  It's not uncommon to see DSM faculty marching, jumping, clapping and coloring their way through drum lessons with a preschooler!

Our format for drum lessons includes lots of varied fun activities that provide a solid foundation for both traditional private drum lessons and/or another age-appropriate instrument. As the child progresses and his or her attention span increases, more and more time will be given to actual drum skills or the instrument of choice.

Plano Children

Our drum lessons for children are designed to give young students a joyful and strong foundation in playing the piano. The end result is musical proficiency and a lifelong love for music!

We teach kids at this age using a multi-sensory approach to expand their understanding of music. Development of positive problem-solving skills, self-expression, memory skills and self-esteem are emphasized as well.

Our drum lessons for teens offer a fast paced and engaging approach to establishing strong musical skills teens can enjoy for the rest of their lives.

Though teenage students vary dramatically in experience and interest in  music, one aspect in every drum lesson remains constant: teens want to have fun with music and feel what they are playing is cool! Whether coolness is classical repertoire, jazz improvisation, rock, pop, or the latest musical craze, The Dallas School of Music faculty will quickly mold the drum lessons accordingly. We are proud to offer drum lessons for children with varying disabilities such as Down Syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, and many more. By doing a little research online, you’ll read many stories, articles, and even books written on the benefits of drum lessons for these beautiful children.

We don’t claim to be a replacement for a qualified music therapist in the medical profession; however, we can contribute to and aid in the therapy goals of many students. By teaching beneficial musical activities and providing an engaging and loving environment, your child can explore the basics of making music while feeling safe and secure.

Students receive all dlp Drum Books  free upon registration. Clear and concise outline and explanation of musical skills, interactive quizzes with ear training, etudes/practice songs with fully orchestrated mp3 play alongs, forums, resources, notebooks, and blogs are provided at no additional cost. On occasion, faculty may recommend additional materials in order to address specific learning styles or musical repertoire requests.

dlp Drum Support

A private dlp Drum Support Website is built and published for each drum student so personal assistance from our faculty can be easily received whenever questions arise between drum lessons. Documentation of lesson assignments, progress reports, and educational files are maintained at the site as well.
